Well, I guess everybody knows the physicist Albert Einstein but not many people actually understand the theories he invented and the importance of them. He was an amazing and intelligent person for sure. And what I particularly appreciate is his attitude towards cycling. There are many quotes about life and cycling related to Einstein, like “I thought of that (the theory of relativity) while riding my bicycle.”. I’m not sure whether they are actually originally his, but they’re good anyhow.
I particularly like the analogy represented by what Albert Einstein said riding his bicycle in Santa Barbara, 1933 “Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.” We are hardly aware of how we maintain balance and coordinate our movements except when we learn new tasks. We usually forget the frustration and false steps of our early years but later in life, we might learn the steps as we learn to ride a bicycle or drive a car, when we are forced to think about how we are moving and train ourselves to move and balance in new ways.
