Astaxanthin & Krill – The ‘New Kids on the Block’ in Eye Protection!

The ‘new kid on the block’ for eye health, is the antioxidant found in Krill and Algae – Astaxanthin. Astaxanthin is the carotenoid that gives Krill its red colour! Carotenoids have begun to attain a certain level of fame for having helpful protective properties for the eyes. Fast becoming known as the ‘King of Carotenoids’, Astaxanthin has superior antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties and may prove to be superior to all other nutraceuticals for eye and brain health.

Astaxanthin could be the ‘light at the end of the tunnel’ for many with vision disorders, especially when used in addition to other nutrients already known for eye-protective properties . . . such as Bilberry, Lutein, and Vitamins A, E and Zinc. Both Bilberry and Lutein are excellent nutrients to support and protect the eyes, and there is credible evidence that they can help prevent age-related macular degeneration and other degenerative eye disorders. You can read more about them here in this article on eye health.

ADD/ADHD/ODD/ASD are not ‘diseases.’

In millions of households across the world, parents have noticed their children’s behaviour to be far more abnormal than expected, even within their particular age group. These abberant traits, as we have seen, have been prescribed medical epithets or disease classifications from the psychiatry fields of medicine along with ‘unavoidable’ prescribed drugs that can cause them irrepairebable harm.

But are these actually ‘mental diseases’ or do they have a more straight forward explanation? It hard to believe that medical science would not be following the healthiest path for children’s wellness, however Phillip Day, health researcher and international speaker and author would say otherwise. Day says in his 2003 book ‘The ABC’s of Disease’, “How likely is it that millions of children have suddenly become mentally ill?”

The Real Power of Antioxidants

“Antioxidants are natural compounds found in some foods that help neutralize free radicals in our bodies.”

Antioxidants play an important role in overall health. They are found in many plants throughout the plant kingdom with varying degrees of concentration. The body’s trillion or so cells face formidable threats daily, ranging from lack of food, lack of nutrients, lack of water, environmental or chemical exposure, to infections with a virus, bacteria, fungi, parasites and electrosmog – just to name a few!

In the Victorian government Better Health site, it’s stated that antioxidants benefit your health by cleaning free radicals out of your bloodstream. I wrote about the Antioxidants The Wonder Nutrients a few weeks ago, but have been getting a stream of questions regarding free radicals and why we recommend the specific antioxidants we do.

There are a few very simple reasons:  Read More

Antioxidants – the Wonder Nutrients!

Antioxidants: the Wonder Nutrients that can Boost Memory, Protect Your Heart, Prevent Disease, Slow Ageing and Give You Beautiful Skin!

The magnitude of plants with therapeutic properties is astounding. Some 70,000 species of plants, from lichens to towering trees, have been used throughout history for medicinal purposes. About 500 herbs are still employed in conventional medicine although the whole plant is rarely used, often at the sacrifice of the synergistic qualities of the herb.

Several hundred of these plants contain antioxidants which are free-radical fighters. Antioxidants are some of the most abundant substances in the plant kingdom. These powerful substances, which mostly come from the fresh fruits and vegetables we eat, prohibit (and in some cases even prevent), the oxidation of other molecules in the body. They work by generously giving electrons to free radicals without turning into electron-scavenging substances themselves.  Read More
