There is a Sleep Health epidemic raging in the western world. At least half of all Americans say they suffer from insomnia, and nearly 9 million are using prescription sleep medication. It’s estimated that 39.8% of Australians experience some form of inadequate sleep, and rate of use of sleeping tablet is a concern.
In Australia, a study found that 81% of patients reporting a new problem of insomnia, were simply prescribed a medication by their doctor. More concerning, many people appear to be using sleeping tablets for more than three weeks, despite evidence this can cause more harm than good.
Getting good sleep is both an art and a science – yet the overwhelming majority of people have trouble sleeping, even those who have mastered every other aspect of their lives.
