Feeding The Hungry Microbiome

We live in a world of unfolding epidemics; Autism, ADD, asthma, allergies, anxiety, depression, epilepsy, diabetes, coeliac issues … these conditions overlap with each other…and are related by similar underlying causes.” says Dr. Campbell-McBride. In her Cambridge UK clinic she sees hundreds of children labeled with different disease but presenting with similar issues of malnourishment, toxicity and poor digestive health. The health of our digestive system directly impacts our whole body, and that is what this post will show you, so make sure you watch the video below.

Campbell-McBride is not alone in her plea for personal responsibility in the home, and it is exciting to find so many medical specialists reaching out to the public, telling them what the Savvy Team founders have been saying for decades now – “Your health is directly related to a healthy gut, which depends entirely on the foods you eat, the quality and quantity of nutrition you get, on your mental and emotional state and last but not least, on your exposures to toxins -both exogenous and endogenous.” All of these areas impact your micro biome and you.

My Story: Overcoming Infertility, Chronic Fatigue, & Depression.

My Story: Overcoming Infertility, Chronic Fatigue, Depression. How the Savvy Team Helped Me Transform My Health!

One of the best things we discovered about the Savvy Team, was the extensive support received. I particularly loved the information I got as a result of the ongoing support, constant connection and feedback, I was able to adjust our program and actually take responsibility for my families health and wellbeing.

After enduring a range of hormonal imbalances as a teenager, and then being put on the Contraceptive Pill to supposedly ‘fix’ these, as the years went by my health deteriorated. I suffered from mild depression and finally debilitating chronic fatigue after a bout of glandular fever. Eventually, I discovered I was infertile and underwent three years of IVF with severe side-effects.

I don’t want to dwell on past history and old problems, but I guess the point to make from this – I THOUGHT I WAS NORMAL and so did the doctors I saw throughout my life to the age of 30.

I thought all of these problems were a normal part of being a woman and because I got no relief from talking to GPs about any of these issues (in fact, it took seeing a range of GPs and 3 months before the Glandular Fever was even diagnosed) I thought the only problem I had was in my head – and from various Doctor’s comments I think many of them thought so too.

I thought that all my sicknesses were ‘normal’ . . .

Does Death Begin In The Colon?

My original exposure to the warning that “Death begins in the colon” and the further investigation of it that I undertook, came after hearing if from Dr. Bernard Jensen, D.C. who, in some circles, is referred to as the “Father of Colonics”. But the term has also been ascribed to physicians in ancient Egypt, and said to be espoused by Hippocrates, the apparent father of modern medicine, whose teachings link many illnesses to problems with the digestive tract, and the lack of optimal functioning of the body.

If not death, then perhaps at least disease and ill health might have a lot to do with the much overlooked function and health of the digestive tract. And the way to achieve that simply and effectively, does depend on the Savvy Team’s three-step process. The strategy of optimising nutrient intake while minimising toxins is also the central focus of the Savvy Team.

The Savvy Team point to the research showing that these days, children, and especially those coming from families with a history of “brain-immuno-gut disorders”, are also being affected with paediatric disorders such as ADHD, Asthma, allergies, autism, chronic illness, depression, learning and language delay, and digestive and behavioural disorders. All of these conditions are now proven to be triggered by toxins, malnutrition and infections as well as inflammatory conditions and stress. While their diets may be ‘good’, they are almost always found to be low in nutrition. Is Orthomolecular Medicine The Answer To Disease?

Orthomolecular medicine is the restoration and maintenance of health through the administration of adequate amounts of substances that are normally present in the body. Dietary supplements at high doses as part of medical therapy have been controversial, but the evidence suggests that they play a significant role in prevention and treatment of diseases as well as protection from accelerated ageing that results from oxygen free-radical damage, inflammation, and glycation.

The aging process is typically accelerated as a result of free radical exposure, frequent or chronic inflammation, and toxic exposures (such as to heavy metals, or industrial and agricultural hydrocarbons, or toxic chemicals unwittingly bought into the home in common household and personal care). Reversing this process or slowing it down is one goal of orthomolecular therapy, along with treatment of health problems. So it’s a two-step approach, just as we say in the Savvy team talks “Wellness It’s Not That Hard”.

It’s hardly new news, when you realise that Dr Weston Price was saying this back in the 1930’s. Orthomolecular nutrition, in contrast to “eat the right food groups” nutrition, emphasises the use of supplemental vitamins, minerals and other essential factors in amounts that are higher than those recommended by the government-sponsored ‘dietary allowances.’ ” Read More
